Soccer and Talk by Trevor Cary

Today we mainly did two things, go to the Czech national team game vs South Korea, and talk with Mrs. Tallman’s parents about the Communist government the Czechs had until 1989. The soccer game was a fun experience, but the Czech team lost 2-1. Talking to her parents was also really interesting.
Today while talking to Mrs. Tallman’s parents we learned about what life was like under communism. One thing that surprised me was that some people liked living under the oppression of communism because communism provided 100% social security. Another thing that surprised me was that there were not many things that they did not have. A few of the things they did not have were important though, especially toilet paper. One thing I thought was funny was that the people used the newspapers, that were mainly propaganda, to wipe with.
