We, the chaperons, are ultra-excited about the group of students that will join us this year. Last year was a roaring success and we believe that 2014 can be even better. Due to some weather issues in 2013 we weren’t able to visit the concentration camp in Terezin. This was something that a lot of students were looking forward to for cultural, historical, and educational aspects. This year we are going to change up the curriculum to include the historical tragedy of this site in tandem with the lessons available in the Old Jewish Quarter of New Town Prague (Josefov)–which we also couldn’t tour due to schedule adjustments.
There is so much to see, but we also want to make sure that it impacts us in a positive way. This little country is rich in history and therefore rich in lessons that we can carry with us forever.
In anticipation of our June departure we will require that you watch the Terezin documentary Defiant Requiem: Voices of Resistance . A worksheet will be provided in the course workbook. Feel free to get a jump on things if you have the time.
